It is colorless to light yellow transparent liquid. Its BP is around 180℃. It can be
soluble in water, ethanol and glycerol.

It is used to prepare resin and used as solvent.
2,3-butanediol diacetate was synthesized by reacting 2,3-butanediol diacetate
with acetic acid at 140-150℃ for 2 h using sulfuric acid as catalyst. It can be added to
cream and used as hygroscopic agent, plasticizer and coupling agent- Butanediol is
also used as a solvent and raw material for synthetic resins.
